Our Shakespeare Experiment has received worldwide acclaim as one of the cleverest and most high-quality book tests ever produced.

Now discover The Secret Lexicon, a beautiful dictionary that will let you perform mindreading miracles!

At any page where the spectator opens the dictionary, you instantly read his mind and divine several different words or images from various locations the volunteer chooses, and even recite complete definitions!

Your volunteer can hand the book to other audience members, and you can immediately reveal different words on other pages!

The Secret Lexicon melds several individual sneaky methods, so your audience won't stand a chance of catching you. And of course the text is different from page to page.

Designed with the needs of the pro in mind, The Secret Lexicon lets you customize your routine with words for different styles. And various portions of the book have all been gimmicked to allow you to perform several distinct effects.

And yes, if you dare to walk on the wild side, you'll love the risqué words we've built into The Secret Lexicon.

The Secret Lexicon is simple to master and perform, and avoids all the typical weak methods: no forces, fishing, gimmicks, math, or props needed.

Some performers prefer using the longest word and anagram ploys, so we've included them as optional tactics built into the book!

Please note that we have designed The Secret Lexicon with a number of features that will mesh into routines with The Shakespeare Experiment for killer combinations, though of course The Secret Lexicon works beautifully as a stand-alone highlight of your act. Now you can give your spectator a free choice of Webster's International Dictionary or The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, and no matter what he selects, a totally controlled force book will be in his hands.

The Secret Lexicon is elegantly bound in brown leather with gold-foil stamping and your choice of golden gilt-edged pages or plain edges, and comes to you complete with our PDF instruction manual and optional performance accessories.

REVIEWS

Traditionally, when the reader of minds invites someone to "think of something," the list of likely subject matter is rather short; think of a name, think of a number, think of a picture, think of a word.

And when the focus is words, a good place to select one at random is a book - thus the standard "book test" is most often actually a "word test." If given the chance to select a book that offered the widest selection of different words, it would be difficult to find a better choice than a dictionary, as that is what they offer: a large number of different words in one single book.

The oldest known dictionaries date to at least 2300 BCE, so audiences have had a long time to get used to them as familiar objects. Linguists agree that a dictionary may be regarded as "a lexicographical product that is characterized by three significant features: (1) it has been prepared for one or more functions; (2) it contains data that have been selected for the purpose of fulfilling those functions; and (3) its lexicographic structures link and establish relationships between the data so that they can meet the needs of users and fulfill the functions of the dictionary." Perhaps it is not a coincidence that The Secret Lexicon offers precisely the same elements.

The Secret Lexicon has also been prepared for multiple functions - the mind reader can know something "about" the word the spectator has selected, he can offer a fitting definition for an unknown word, or just come right out and name the thought-of word. The layout, design and "data" of The Secret Lexicon has been specially selected for the purpose of fulfilling these functions.

This special dictionary is chameleon in nature. The dark leather binding makes the Lexicon look at home in a paneled drawing room or one can quickly slip on the special custom dust jacket and give it the more common look of a collegeate desk accessory. In addition, one may request it with or without gilt edges (and in my opinion, every mentalist could do with a little less gilt).

Are there hundreds of other book tests and "dictionary tests" to be had? Yes This is by no means the first, but the professionals who invest the time and effort to make this a part of their performing repitoire may well discover that The Secret Lexicon just might be the last word in book tests.
