In 2012, several years after Teller and I published our two-book set House of Mystery: The Magic Science of David P. Abbott, the Miracle Factory decided to help out our friends Johnny and Pam Thompson with a unique collectors’ set of ten photos of the Thompsons and Teller from the books.

The striking large-format 11 x 17 photos are reproduced from the originals shot during the wonderful and often-hilarious photo sessions for House of Mystery. In period attire, the Thompsons applied their delightful acting talents to play a lecherous spirit medium bilking his attractive customer, while Teller in a ninja outfit played the secret assistant carrying out the dirty work behind the scenes.

If you own the House of Mystery book set, you’ll recall these superbly photographed, humorous shots, which look even more amazing at full-size.

We chose some of the best photos to include, and, in keeping with the spiritualistic theme of David P. Abbott’s exposés, we housed them inside a hinged pair of lovely old-fashioned oversized school slates, along with a House of Mystery CD mounted inside with a delicately filigreed pocket containing a card individually signed by Teller, Johnny, and Pam.

Only a few sets of the slates were sold, and we sent the proceeds to Johnny and Pam. Those that were purchased are treasured by their lucky owners. The sets we’re now offering are the only ones remaining from the original run of ten.
